My dog has itchy skin. Should I test her for environmental allergies?

Would it be recommended that I have my dog tested to see what she could be allergic to? She has been on so much stuff to no avail. Her skin gets hot and she gets itchy and she scratches herself until she gives herself secondary infections. She does not have fleas. And we have narrowed down that it is not a food allergen as we have tried so many hypoallergenic food and she still had the same symptoms. So her allergy would be environmental. But we don't know what it is. Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | spayed | 4 years and 4 months old | 85 lbs

This will help identify the type of allergens she may be allergic too and get the right therapy for her.
