Pet's info: Dog | Australian Shepherd - miniature | Male | neutered | 1 year and 3 months old | 17.63 lbs
My dog is a miniature Aussie and I've heard Aussie's mostly develop problems in their eyes. I just wanted to know whether there are any measures I can take to ensure my dog's eyes remain free from any discomfort?

There are not any preventative measures to take. Just be diligent to wipe any discharge from the corners of the eyes so it doesn't try and stick to the skin. This can cause a skin infection. Also make sure the discharge is always they or clear. If it turns to green or yellow, have your vet take a look. Also if you even notice him squinting either of his eyes then have your vet look at them! I hope this helps!
