My abandoned dog is not herself after heat. Can I use her rabies tag?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 9 months old | 5 lbs

This is the first time I've owned a really small dog she came to us walking in our yard, family abandon the house and left her behind, I wanna know I can gather information on her using her rabies tag, also she's at the end of her heat, and hasn't been herself could she possibly be depressed? From these events or low on blood sugar?

Most rabies tags have clinic names on them. You should contact the clinic on the tag. They can look up the dog's information and medical history using the tag number. They can also scan her for a microchip. She may be depressed at being abandoned or she could be sick. If you plan on keeping her, consider an exam to diagnose illness or injury. She should also be spayed to prevent future heat cycles and unwanted or accidental litters.
