Why is my husky chewing her fur out? Should I use medicated shampoo?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

We are keeping a husky for a few months for a friend and recently she has started pulling her fur out? Would a medicated shampoo help?

I'm sorry to hear Kyah is having issues. Chewing out fur can either have a medical cause (parasites, allergies, infection) or a behavioral cause (stress, anxiety). I would recommend she be evaluated by her regular veterinarian to determine the underlying cause for her behavior, have any necessary testing done (skin scrape, culture) and start on any treatment (antibiotics, anti-itch medications, anti-anxiety medications) that she may need to help resolve the issue. Good luck!
