My kitten had a seizure and is lethargic. What should I do now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 30 days old | 1.5 lbs

My cat had a fever, she is lethargic, sleepy and lifeless. She got two vaccines in three days for temperature, but she is still behaving the same, although temperature is lowered. Also, she got antibiotics and vitamin B. Today she had a seizure (shaking and falling), but it stopped minute later. What can I do to help her? Is it possible that she is behaving like this because her mother rejected her (she is two months old)? Please, help me. Thank you!

If she had what appeared to be a seizure, I would place a small amount of karo syrup on the gums and get her seen right away as her sugar level may be low. This could easily cause the seizures with low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Sick kittens oftentimes do not eat enough and will secondarily get hypoglycemia. I would take her into her vet right away to be examined and treated. Please feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns you may have. I am also available via consultation.
