My 4month old puppy ate half of a hard book cover. She threw up the pieces. But is now moaning when her tummy is rubbed and is making the motions as if she wants to throw up but can't. I don't see any stomach bloating( I figured it could be GDV) she isn't weak, just sleepy as always, she still eats and drinks, and is still playful. Do you think she just has an upset stomach?

Lexi's stomach is probably still very inflammed from eating (and attempting to digest) the book cover. Inflammation of the lining of the stomach is called gastritis. Sometimes gastritis can resolve on its own after a couple of days but sometimes dogs need medication to help keep them comfortable while they are going through it. While Lexi is recovering from this, feed her small meals more frequently of an easily digestible diet such as plain boiled chicken and rice. There is a small chance that the book cover has caused a blockage, either in the stomach or intestines. I would recommend keeping a very close eye on Lexi over the next 24 hours. If she cannot stop vomiting, develops diarrhea, or stops wanting to eat, then I would take her to the vet to have X-rays performed to look for a blockage. I hope this helps. Best of luck.
