Dog throwing up on antibiotics: Is it too much? Should I stop?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Norfolk Terrier | Male | unneutered | 23 years and 11 months old

My dog was given antibiotics to take for 6days due to urine infection but after 4days of taking it he got this little wound beside his anus and When i took him to the vet, he was given another 6days antibiotic. Now my question is, isnt it too much for my dog to have another 6days antibiotic cause this morning he puked. I wonder if i need to stop it cause i know antibiotic is harmful when taken too much. I hope to get an answer. Thank you and more power.

That is not too long to be on an antibiotic as sometimes we prescribe longer courses. If he is getting sick on the antibiotic I would discontinue using it and contact your vet as soon as you can so that you can put spyke on a different antibiotic that won't cause a sensitive stomach. I would feed prior to giving the antibiotic and see if this helps. Hopefully spyke gets better soon! Please feel free to contact me with any further questions or concerns you may have.
