Why is my dog shaking, scared, ears down, and avoiding a room?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 9 months and 9 days old | 38 lbs

So,today my dog was under the bed and then came out and came on the bed with me and started shaking and her ears and tail were down. I hugged her also and tried to calm her down. One thing I noticed was that she was looking up at the ceiling and the top bunk bed. After that she doesn't want to come in the room. She's laying on the couch in the living room right now. And she's still very scared. What is wrong with her?did she see a ghost?

Oh poor girl! She is adorable! Sometimes dogs can get scared of a number of things and act that way. Try to think of anything that could have scared her such as a visitor, neighbors or even loud outside noises. Rarely, dogs try to get away when they do not feel well (more commonly seen with cats). Keep her close, pet her and let her know that everything will be ok with a calm demeanor and gentle voice. If no improvement is observed by tomorrow, have her examined by your veterinarian to ensure that there is no medical reason for her behavior. Good luck!
