My dog used to have many puppies. Why are her litters smaller?

Good day, my Swiss Shephard is 5 years old, she used to give 6-8 puppies. The last 2 times she only gave birth to 1 puppy . What could the reason be? Kind regards Anita. Pet's info: Dog | Shiloh Shepherd | Female | unspayed | 5 years and 1 month old | 65 lbs

There is no medical reason she can have a small litter size. It may have to do with the male and his fertility level and how many times they breed. She is getting older and age can affect fertility also
