My dog died with bloody stool. Could it be rabies? Am I at risk?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male

My dog who usually licks me died this morning. I was nervous if it died because of rabies. I am afraid for myself but as far as I know I dont have any bite but it always lick my feet. The symtoms I observed is that it has a blood in his stool or feces and he dont want to eat. My question is does my dog died because of rabies and should I consult to my doctor? I hope you could answer my query. Thank you.

I am so sorry for your loss! I am not sure if rabies exist in the phillippines. I would recommend contacting your local vet/ state department to discuss the possibility of rabies in your area and see what they advise. In the united states rabies present with foaming at the mouth and severe behavioral changes like aggression. Typically bloody stool is not associated. In the unites states I would tell you to not be concerned. However in your area I would recommend following up with a local vet. Again sorry for your loss
