My unvaccinated cat has fever, vomiting, not eating. Is it distemper?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 5 months and 17 days old | 4 lbs

My 7 month old unvaccinated cat has had high fever, vomiting, lethargy and is refusing to eat or drink anything for the last 4 days. There are no 24 hour vets in my area and none are open until Monday. Does this sound like cat distemper? Is there anything I can do for him?

What you describe could be feline distemper. It could be feline infectious peritonitis (the dry form) or another viral infection. Whatever ever is is, Butternut needs to see a veterinarian as soon as possible. Keep Buttermilk as comfortable as possible, leave plenty of fresh water available, offer canned food or even boiled chicken breast. Good luck.
