My dog's eye infection is getting worse after vet drops, what now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 10 months and 28 days old | 47 lbs

My ten month old lab is having some serious eye issues. We took her to the vet on Thursday and we're told it was a bacterial infection. We were given eye drops called neomycin and polymyxin b sulfates and gramicidin ophthalmic solution usp. But now two days later her eye seems to be getting worse and the redness has spread.

It's a little too soon to get to the conclusion that the diagnosis is not correct but if you do not see any improvement until Monday i strongly recommend taking Arya to the vet again in order to have it rechecked, possibly under sedation this time as in some cases a foreign body could be hiding deep under the third eyelid causing these symptoms.
