Why does my dog poop normal then have diarrhea and squat long?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Border Collie | Male | neutered | 65 lbs

My dog is pooping normally but then has slight diarrhea at the end and stays squating for a really long time. He isn't scooting forward or anything though. Should this be a concern?

Hi, thanks for using Petcoach! I don't think you need to be super concerned with Diesel. I recommend starting him on a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger mixed with rice. Feed him 3 1/2 cups per day until 2 normal stools. You can also start a probiotic. I like Purina Fortiflora. If the diarrhea persists, worsens, you see blood or he starts vomiting get him looked at by your Vet. Hope this helps and good luck! https://www.chewy.com/s/brand_facet:Purina%20Pro%20Plan%20Veterinary%20Diets?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI_ePA0vnR1QIVwhuBCh3zGALsEAAYASAAEgKQ2_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
