My German Shepherd has atopic dermatitis. What's the best treatment?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 11 months and 11 days old | 70 lbs

I have 1-year-old German Shepherd and the local vet prescribed antibiotics for Atopic dermatites. I was reading on the net that antibiotics are not suitable for this. Advice, please. We are in Thailand and vet has no experience with this breed.

If the problem is allergies (atopic dermatitis) then Mike might still need antibiotics but it is not enough, you should ask for an anti allergy medication, the best option is called Apoquel, i'm not sure if it is available in Thailand though, the second option is Prednisolone.
