No this is normal, and it could be due to an eye infection, injury to the eye, or allergies. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it should be considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I would have Cookie seen by a vet tomorrow to diagnose what is causing her symptoms so she can be treated.

Excessive tearing can indicate the beginning of an eye infection or a scratch on the cornea. I recommend to have Chappie examined by the veterinarian to find out if he needs medication. Chappie may also need to wear an elizabethan collar to prevent rubbing the eye. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Hi! It is good you noted that Cookie is still acting normal and has good energy. A small amount of occasional discharge can be normal. If she is squinting or the discharge is green/yellow I would have her seen in case she has a bacterial infeciton or a scratch.. Also if it seems persistent I would ask your vet about the possibility of a chronic viral infection and anti-viral medication as upper respiratory viruses are common in cats, especially those from shelters. I hope this helps!

I would recommend taking her to a vet because she most likely has an infection in her eyes. This can be secondary to a viral infection or a upper respiratory infection. Typically an eye infection will not improve on its owner. Cookie should see a vet for a good eye exam and most likely antibiotic drops.
