Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Male | 8 years and 7 months old | 45 lbs
My Siberian Husky has had hip dysplasia since he was little. He is 8 years old now and it is getting worse. The other day he just stopped using his left hind leg. He will put a little pressure on it but most of the time he just limps on 3 legs. He is now having a hard time pooping since he can't put pressure on his leg. We have no money to take him to the vet. I don't want to put him down but I also don't want to be selfish. If he's in pain should we go through with it?

I am so sorry for this decision you're facing. There are medications and treatments that can help with chronic dysplasia or arthritis but it can be expensive. You are the one that knows him best and can assess his quality of life. Here are a couple of links that can help you judge his quality of life. And remember that euthanasia is a gift to end pain for our friends even if it causes heartbreak for us. Much love to Walker Texas while you make this decision. https://vet.osu.edu/vmc/sites/default/files/import/assets/pdf/hospital/companionAnimals/HonoringtheBond/HowDoIKnowWhen.pdf http://www.aplb.org/resources/quality-of-life_scale.php
