My cat licked cookie dough and is now throwing up. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 6 years and 3 months old

I gave my cat cookie dough stupidly, it was only a little. Just a few licks off my finger now she's throwing up. Yesterday it was her food first but after that it was just white foam. She threw up yesterday a couple times and this morning. What to do?

Oh dear, poor Brandy! It is possible that she is experiencing some gastroenteritis from even a small amount of cookie dough. You can try to withhold food for the next 12-24 hours, then offer a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken for a few days. Once the vomiting subsides, gradually mix her normal food with the bland diet over another 5-7 days. However, if Brandy continues to vomit, develops diarrhea, lethargy, or refuses to eat the bland diet, she will need to go to her vet. She may need IV fluids and medications to help slow her vomiting. I hope that she feels better soon!
