Is a follow-up urine culture standard after dog UTI antibiotics?

Koda has been diagnosed with a Uti and prescribed medicine. Our vet wants a follow up in 3 weeks and do a culture at that visit. Is the culture following the antibiotics standard procedure? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 1 year and 2 months old
