Kitten diarrhea after starting solid food. Why no litter box use?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female

Hello, my cat made made birth to a few kittens and after a month all of them started getting introduced to my cat's dry food (its Royal canin for the mother and kittens). So when my kittens started eating a little bit from the dry food one of them the next day pooped on the floor but it wasn't hard it was like he had diarrhea, could it be because he changed his food and why didn't the cat mother take him to the litter box to poop?

When the kittens switch from milk to solid foods there will definitely be a change in the consistency of their feces. Monitor their poop to make sure there is no blood or mucous in it. And I would not worry yet about the kitten not using the litter box because she is still very young. By the time she is 2 months old she will likely have figured it out.
