Help! My dog gets into dirty laundry when I'm not home. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 1 year and 4 months old | 23.5 lbs

When my mom and I are home my dog knows she's not allowed in my mother's room. But as soon as she's home alone, I've been noticing she gets into my mothers dirty clothes basket and rips her socks, underwear, etc. What can I do to stop sneaky behavior when she's unsupervised?

The easiest thing to do is block Panda's access to your mother's room. Make sure the door to her bedroom is shut when your mother isn't home, and you can put up a baby gate to prevent her from going down to your mother's room. Your mother can also start putting her dirty laundry in a basket that locks so Panda can't get into it. I hope this helps!
