Hi, My hamsters tooth has overgrown and pierced through his cheek , I never knew this could happen now too late but I know he needs something hard to grind them down unfortunately I didn't know at that time ,I have an appointment with Cookie to the vet tomorrow , I'm really curious what can the vet do , will he cut the tooth from inside and outside leaving a little while in the cheek to cure over time ? Also he has a bulging eye probably because of the tooth , I'm really worried

Your vet should be able to trim Cookie's teeth. Some hamsters need this done routinely (every 2-3 months) but you may be able to prevent it from happening again by giving him plenty of things to chew on. Hamsters incisors grow continuously which is why they need to be worn down or trimmed regularly. Your vet may also recommend starting so antibiotics since there is an open wound. Best of luck.
