I give my dog a denta stick a few times a week but when I do he sometimes has diahorrea and I put some carrots in a kong for him as a treat too, should I be concerned about the occasional bout of diahorrea and will his stomach settle down as he gets older?

It sounds like the denta sticks are not agreeing with him. I would suggest trying an alternative dental chew. Greenies provide a very good dental chew. The raw carrots in the kong that you provide are also very good for Ziggy's teeth.
