Hello, so there's this stray kitten I found, that appears to have a very bad eye infection. I can't afford to take it to the vet, and really want to help, what should I do?

I am so sorry to hear that Lady is experiencing these problems with her eyes. Thank you for providing an excellent pictures, it seems painful (eyes closed) and has discharge. Start by placing an e-collar or cone on Lady to prevent scratching or rubbing. If the eye is infected it is likely painful, this will prompt Lady to scratch or rub her eye. However, this could inflict further damage, infection or even an ulceration. Because eye concerns with cats, such as infections, corneal ulcerations, cataracts and glaucoma, can progress rapidly to blindness I would have her examined by your veterinarian to diagnose the issue. The precise medication can then be dispensed by your veterinarian. If Costs are an issue at the moment try this resource to help wil payments options and tips based on where you live http://m.humanesociety.org/animals/resources/tips/trouble_affording_pet.html Please do not attempt to treat an eye infection at home with any over the counter medications, drops or ointments. This can lead to permanent damage and unnecessary pain or discomfort. I hope this answer was helpful and that Lady feels better soon. Warmest regards to you both!

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. This kitten's eyes look very sore and painful, and based on what you are describing I am concerned that he may have a serious virus or disease. I recommend strongly that you bring the kitten to a vet that will take a stray in, or find a humane society or a pound. You could also try a rescue group. The other option is to keep the kitten and pay for the vet care as if the kitten is yours, however I am concerned that it is very very sick and very painful. Nothing you do at home will be enough pain relief for this kitten's eyes, and it likely needs more medications including antibiotics and might need surgery to remove the eyes if eye antibiotic ointment doesn't work. Try finding a pound, rescue group or humane society, or ask the vets in your area if they take in strays. Best of luck with the little kitten!
