Why does my dog sometimes look sad for no reason? Is she in pain? She doesn't whine, she just sits there and her ears are back. Then after a while she gets happy to see me and gives me her paw.

Hello and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Dogs can act sad or depressed For many reasons (including fear, stress, pain or illness). Without having an examination it's hard to determine why Darby may be acting this way. Because Darby is younger I feel it's important to have her checked out by a veterinarian within the next few weeks to see if there is a medical issue. You may also want to record the behavior to show to your veterinarian during the appointment.
