Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 8 months and 14 days old | 20 lbs

My dog scrappy got into garbage including Chinese food egg roll n teriyaki chicken and spicy chicken. Since he has vomited alot, diarrhea, won't drink, lost appt of weight, drools in thick clear mucus and won't open his jaw for me to give him liquid. Will he get better at home I really can't afford a vet Bill and don't qualify for insurance cause my income is too low n credit too bad.

Poor Scrappy! At best he sounds like he has a bad touch of gastroenteritis but I fear the fatty foods may have given him pancreatitis which can be serious. To be honest either way if he is vomiting and not drinking the vet is unavoidable as he will get very dehydrated and worsen. He will likely need a drip and medication. I would urge you to go asap as the longer you leave it the more treatment he may need and the more it will cost.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Voz. I recommend that he sees his veterinarian. Ongoing vomiting and diarrhea will result in dehydration. After he is examined, testing such as fecal tests or blood work may be discussed. He could have an intestinal infection or a more serious condition such as pancreatitis. Pancreatitis is a risk of feeding human food especially high fat foods. Once a diagnosis is made, treatment can be started to help him feel better. I hope this information helps!
