My cat won't eat. How do I know if it's time for euthanasia?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Bengal | Male | neutered | 8 lbs

My beloved Nino is a male Bengal just 8 years old and the prognosis was a malignant tumor large in size in his chest lung cavity. Nino was rescued by my daughter from a kill shelter when he was approximately 9 months old. Our vet has recommended Euthansa because he won't eat despite a steroid injection a week ago to stimulate his appetite. He sleeps most of the time and hides but he still grooms himself and responds to my kisses and hugs. Is it time? I don't want him to suffer liver failure?

I am so sorry you are going through this with Nino. This is a very tough decision, but one you must make because you love him. You do not want the tumor in his chest to get so large as he begins to have problems breathing. This can come on quite suddenly
