I typically recommend taking them outside on a leash to get them used to it. You may have to go out frequently at first. Deuce is very young and it is not reasonable to expect him to go outside all the time (and he probably is too young to be leash trained). I'd recommend just taking him outdoors occasionally to get him used to the rain but not expecting him to urinate or defecate at this point.

Hello and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Well your dog me step in the mud and track dirt into the house, going out in the rain isn't going to hurt him. I would certainly be cautious where you're putting him as he is so young and vulnerable to other diseases from other dogs. One technique that I recommend to my clients with young puppies is to use a patch of grass on the patio. If you live in an apartment, this is very handy. I would recommend a product called Fresh patch. You can order a patch of grass at various sizes and put them on your patio or inside your house. It is an actual square of grass which would also teach your puppy to go on the grass. I hope this helps! Please feel free to contact me with any further questions that you may have.
