My dog has a large red circle near her ear. What could it be?

I found this large red circle close to my dogs eat and I'm wondering what can that be ? I only found this out today. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed | 4 years and 3 months old | 19 lbs

This looks like a puncture wound that has become very irritated. Puncture wounds like this can be caused by sharp objects, foreign bodies and parasites (Bot flies). I would have Bella seen by your vet to have this area flushed out well to make sure no foreign bodies are inside and also to get her on antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medicaiton to get this to heal well. Best wishes at the vet and I hope smells gets this resolved soon.
