The first thing I would want to find is if the urine really has blood in it. Rabbit's urine can often look like it has blood in it, because they excrete a certain pigment (porphyrins) in the urine. This can be due to a diet high in carotenoids (carrots, mango, papaya, other orange fruits and vegetables) and stress. Blood in urine can also be a sign of infection. The best thing you can do is get the urine tested by a veterinarian. If Thunder otherwise seems fine, then it would be OK to wait a day or two and see if the urine does not look like it has blood anymore. Keep in mind that a rabbit's diet should be mostly grass and hay. Fruits and vegetables should be less than 10% of their diet. Also make sure that Thunder has a bowl of clean water available at all times.

We can sometimes see a change in a rabbit's urine that looks dark/reddish in color due to a change in diet. Some plants have pigment that can change the urine color. If your rabbit is energetic with a normal appetite and not painful if you press on his belly, I would try stopping the grass for a few days to see if the issue resolves. If it does, then it is nothing to worry about and just related to the diet and not actually blood. If the problem doesn't resolve, your bunny is lethargic or has decreased appteite, or his belly is painful or he is straining to pee, then he should see a veterinarian as he could have an infection of the bladder/kidneys or stones in the bladder. Pigment/discolouration from yellow to red in rabbit urine is quite normal and dependent on diet. Clots however are concerning and may indicate urinary tract inflammation. I would recommend a full urinalysis by your vet to determine what is doing on and possibly a scan/x-ray if any indication of bladder stones arise from the examination and tests

Hello. Rabbits naturally excrete porphyrrin pigments in their urine that has a far red to rust color. This makes it hard to distinguish this normal coloration from frank blood. Blood in the urine could indicate a urinalysis tract infection, bladder stones, or in females a reproductive disease. To help sort out these causes, Twinkle will need a physical exam, blood work, and X-rays or an ultrasound. A urine sample may also be needed to check for infection. Your veterinarian should be able to perform these diagnostics. Good luck.
