Why are there red dots on my cat's bedding? Is it flea dirt?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | British Shorthair | Female | spayed | 18 years and 7 months old | 5 lbs

I've now noticed that the clean bedding that i've put on my bed has the same red dotty stains from before. I washed this bedding 16 days ago and changed it with the bedding that is now in the washing. The bedding i washed 16 days ago is back on my bed. she didn't have flea dirt on her back then. Am I baffled. Are the red dots squished flea dirt that I had on my bed before without realizing that she had fleas? The flea dirt appeared on Saturday, wanted to get it confirmed by a vet yesterday.

I can see where this is frustrating. It is possible that you had flea dirt on your bed. If flea dirt gets wet it can cause red color. I am not 100% sure but I would make sure you do not have bed bugs or anything else like that. I have seen clients bring in there pets for bugs and it is actually a bed bug problem (there pet did not actually have bugs). However like I said fleas could be a cause too. I would recommend taking D'd to the vet for a good check up and applying flea prevention every 30 days.
