My dog has sneezing fits. Is it bathroom humidity or allergies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 3 years and 2 months old | 45 lbs

My dog sneezes usually once every other week, but he's had 2 sneezing fits within the past 3 months. He came near the shower, left the bathroom, and had a sneezing fit for 30 seconds. Several minutes passed by and then he sneezed a few more times, then again 15 minutes later. I'm nervous that it's something serious. I plan on seeing his vet, but could the shower water or humidity in the bathroom have caused this episode ?

I don't think that water or humidity would cause sneezing episodes like this. It is more likely that it's an allergy to something in the environment or something that is irritating the nasal passages such as fragrances, smoke or something else. If he's only doing this when he comes into and then leaves the bathroom, look for anything in the bathroom that might cause irritation.
