Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | spayed | 8 years and 7 months old | 5 lbs
Hi. My dog is 8 year old purebred Yorkie. She is having few symptoms: swollen/puffy eyes, itchy/dry skin, and black around vaginal area with a bit white puss. Also I have noticed slightly darker skin in mostly itchy areas. I'm not sure what's happening to her and would like to know if she is just getting old, or if she is starting to get sick.

Poor Lillie, those eyes look very uncomfortable. It is possible there may be mites, a bacterial or yeast infection causing such signs and your vet may wish to do some tests to identify any underlying factors such as hormonal disease. I recommend you full check up as soon as possible

Poor Buddie! It sounds like he has an eye infection. Dogs can get eye infections from bacteria, scratches on the cornea or not producing enough tears. These conditions need to be treated by the veterinarian and I recommend to have him examined today if possible. He should also wear an Elizabethan collar to protect the eyes from rubbing as this tends to make it worse. I hope he starts feeling better quickly and please feel free to post any additional questions!

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Holly. I recommend that she sees her veterinarian as she appears to have deep skin infection surrounding her eye. She will likely need an extended course of antibiotics for her skin to heal. This may have occured secondary to a food allergy or a primary eye problem making her painful. In the meantime, do not allow her to paw the eye. I hope this information helps!

If Kali just has some Greyish clear discharge then it is likely just allergies and you can use some artificial tears twice a day to help flush it out. If the discharge is green or yellow then something more serious could be going on like a corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis, dry eye and other issues. If the discharge is colored or she is favoring the eye the I would ha e your vet look at her. Your vet will be able to examine the eye and do some different to tests to see what meds might be needed, if any. I hope this helps!
