My dog is lethargic, not eating, and throwing up. Should I worry?

My dog is a year old and her name is Ginger. She's usually very happy and playful but recently she's been more mellow, sleeping a lot more, not fully eating her meals, throwing up, and just lounging around the house. Because of this change in behavior, I was wondering if I should be concerned?

Hi, I would say based on your description of Ginger's recent activity, decrease in appetite, and vomiting that yes, she is certainly telling you that she does not feel well at all. There are many reasons medically for this sudden change. The best recommendation I can make for Ginger is to take her to your veterinarian so he/she can perform a good physical exam and determine the cause of these recent problems. The sooner she can be seen the better as it sounds like she is really not feeling well. Best of luck to you and Ginger. Please reach out if you have any further questions.

I'm sorry to hear Ginger isn't feeling well. The signs you've described could be due to many different issues including Gastrointestinal distress, intestinal blockage, infection, or pain. Without doing a physical examination on Ginger it's impossible to say what is causing her illness. Because Ginger has been sick for so long she really needs to see a veterinarian so she can get treatment. I recommend she see a veterinarian right away so she can start treatment and starts feeling better soon. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I hope Ginger gets the care she needs and is feeling better soon!
