My cat is sick: vomiting, diarrhea, odd behavior after flea collar.

Hi. I have a cat that's been throwing up with diarrhea for nearly a month. It started a week after putting a flea collar on him. He wore the collar for a week before I removed it three weeks ago. I can't afford the vet right now so what can I do? He's been sleeping in unusual places too, like on top of the fridge, cabinets and inside of the cabinets.

So sorry to hear about Church. Chronic diarrhea and vomiting can be caused by many things including toxic reaction to flea and tick products. Having removed it is a good thing, but if vomiting and diarrhea continues then it could indicate other causes such as and obstruction, chronic inflammatory disease, parasites, or even allergies to food. Hanging out and and sleeping in strange places also tells me your cat is not feeling well. As a result, I would recommend further consultation or scheduling an appointment with a local veterinarian to exam church, consider blood work or x-rays if necessary, and recommend medical or surgical management as needed. I hope I have answered your question but if not please feel free to set up a consultation with me to further our discussion. Thank you, Dr. Steve Popish
