My kitten's eye is bloody and squinting. What home treatment works?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 5 months and 5 days old | 8.3 lbs

My kittens eye has blood in it. He is squinting that eye and there is white discharge. He most likely got it from fighting with another cat. What do i do? I cant take him to a vet, are there any eyedrops i can give him?

I'm so sorry about Toby's eye. It would be helpful to see a picture of the eye if you could post it on the forum. If there is blood in the eye, this sounds very serious and should see a veterinarian. Eye wounds are very prone to infection, especially from a fight with another cat. They can also worsen very quickly and even lead to blindness. Unfortunately, there isn't anything over the counter that can treat an injury like this. I would encourage you to place a cone so he can't scratch or rub at his eye and keep the area surrounding the eye as clean as possible.

I do believe it is an injury to the eye, possibly due to fighting. the eye must be checked professionally , if it is scratched or damaged it will require special treatment with antibiotic eye drops and serum. only a trip to the vet can help you with that.
