My cat hit her head in a door showing serious signs. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 6 lbs

My cat got her head slammed in a door following me when I didn't know and she collapsed and later there meowed twice. Since then she has pooped on her self 3 times and urinated on herself also multiple times. One eye is very swollen and the other just stares blankly. Her pupils are tiny bit still ready to light. She will occasionally drag herself around bit mostly just lies in a strange position which looks uncomfortable for her. She still responds to some stimuli such as air blown into her ear.

Oh no, I'm so sorry! It sounds like Jane suffered some significant head trauma and is showing signs of traumatic brain injury. I would recommend taking her to an emergency veterinarian as soon as possible. Prompt intensive care, oxygen, and IV fluid support are usually recommended and depending on how severe her neurologic signs are and how she responds to therapy she may be able to make a full recovery. Good luck to Jane!
