Is it normal for my kitten to be sleepy after spay and wearing a cone?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 4 months and 26 days old | 4.5 lbs

I got my kitten spayed 3 days ago and although she still likes to play and stuff she has been abit more sleepy than usual, her post op appointment is tomorrow, and she's still wearing her collar, is it possible that she's just become more calm or is this normal for a while after spaying?

It is normal that a kitten will be quieter than usual after a spay. It is an abdominal surgery, and it's important that she does stay as quiet as possible so she can heal correctly. Wearing an Ecollar can also lead them to be quieter than normal, as cats do not like them and act resigned to wearing them. As long as she eating and drinking normally, I wouldn't be too concerned about her but you can mention your concern with your vet at the appointment tomorrow. I hope this helps!
