My female dog has a knot that is raw but not bleeding on her front elbow. What can I do until I can get her to the veterinarian

Thank you for your post! From your picture, it looks like Little Bit has a skin mass that is pink and irritated. It is almost impossible for me to tell you exactly what it is but as Little Bit is 12 yrs old, I would suspect this is a skin mass of some type. Skin tumors become more common in older animals. There is no rush to get Little Bit seen as an emergency but I would schedule an appointment with your veterinarian as soon as possible to have this diagnosed. Your veterinarian will likely perform a fine needle aspirate to get a better idea of what this is. If Little Bit is chewing at it, I would pick up a plastic cone from a pet store and use this to prevent the chewing / licking as this can lead to infection.
