Why is my cat losing weight with a tummy lump but still eating?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Female | unspayed | 9 months and 10 days old | 6.61 lbs

Zinnie eats well.. drinks well.. ders no problem in her appetite. But her weight is decreasing :-( we are so much worried. Is it due to lump she has near her tummy? Please check photos. No change in behavior. Plays a lot.

It's definitely a good sign that Zinnie is eating, drinking and acting normal. The pictures are not very clear, but I do see a large swelling in the abdomen. This could be a few things: 1) Abscess (infection) 2) Tumor 3) Abdominal hernia (a tear in the body wall) 4) Cyst Since Zinnie is young, I think it's likely that this is an abdominal hernia. This should be checked by a veterinarian, because it can quickly become worse if not corrected by surgery. You can also have her spayed during the time of surgery. I happen to know an animal rescue organization in Pune who can help you find a vet if needed: https://www.facebook.com/bodhisattvango/?pnref=lhc I hope this helps.
