My dog's eye got poked by a bush. Is he going blind or is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Australian Shepherd - miniature | Female | unspayed | 45 lbs

My dog was digging and a bush poked him in the face, he can't see very well in inevitable of his eyes. He is itchy, scratching himself against the carpet. Can he become blind or can there be other affects from the bush?

Based on your description, it sounds like Spector may have sustained some trauma to the eye. I would be concerned that something has become lodged in the cornea of the eye itself and that is why she is scratching at her face in an attempt to get it out. I would have a vet take a look at this before it becomes more of a concern. If there is trauma to the eye it could certainly lead to blindness.
