My male dog has nipples and an underbite. Is this normal for him?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 60 lbs

We just adopted this little guy from a rescue yesterday and although he's a boy, he seems to have 8 tests or nipples? Is this normal? I've adopted 4 other boys in the past and never seen these before. He also has an underbite, but he looks part pug or boxer so I guess thats a normal thing.

Yes, nipples are normally present on both male and female dogs and cats. Sometimes the number may vary, but 8 is typical. Perhaps your other male dogs had tbicker hair and the nippmes were not so visible. Underbites are quite common in both pugs and boxers....that just adds to their charm!!

Yes male dogs have nipples like girl dogs. His do look a little bigger than some male dogs. They could be irritated from scratching, or they may be normal for him. If they get bigger I recommend an exam to make sure all is well. An underbite is common on those breeds and as long as he's eating fine there is nothing to worry about.
