My dog just had puppies, losing fur, hot belly, dry nose. Is she okay?

My dog that is a mommy is losing fur, her belly is hot but not inflamed and her nose is dry. But she still eats, drinks, plays, and goes to the bathroom

If Lola recently has a litter the hair loss could be due to hormonal changes. Since her belly is hot I would have your vet take a look st her to ensure she doesn't have a fever or an infection. Your vet will be able to see if she needs any medications like antibiotics or allergy medicine. I hope this helps!

My dog is licking her belly excessively especially around her nipples, she then also whines and has shown some aggression. The hair is gone but it doesn't seem to be raw but she may also be biting?... she is unfixed almost 6 yrs old
It spunds like Lola is itchy and this could be several things including allergies, a reaction to the shampoo, parasites or contact allergy. You can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for dogs, this can help improve the skin health. You may also try changing her diet to something like Royal Canin or Nutro as they are aimed at skin health. You can wash the area with soap once a day and rinse well (don't wash her whole body, just those spots). If this does help after within about a week or if they get worse, have her examined by her veterinarian who may prescribe medications. Hello. This puppy needs medical attention. She appears to have a serious skin condition and should have a skin scrape to check for mange. If she is potbellied and has low energy, she may have other internal parasites. Some intestinal parasites can cause anemia as well as gastrointestinal problems. Anemia is a low red blood cell count which causes weakness and lack of energy. Please have her examined, tested for parasites-both internal and external- and given the appropriate treatments. It sounds like your fur baby has what's called a "hot spot". This is an infection on the skin that is typically initially caused by some kind of trauma or nick on the skin. If she is eating and drinking well, that means the infection is just on her skin and not systemic, which is good. You can try treating this with a topical hot spot spray to see if this gets better within a few days. Clean the area with Betadine diluted 50;50 with warm water and let it air dry first. Shaving the hair also helps b/c hair carries a lot of dirt and debris that can delay healing. IF there is no improvement within 3-4 days, then it is best to get Lola seen by your vet for oral antibiotics to help this heal well.
Another common cause of "hot spots" is fleas, so make sure to keep her on monthly flea prevention.

Ever since my dog gave birth I been seeing that she has less fur in some areas on her side . Is this normal or ?
This may be caused by excessive licking due to pain or itching, or could also have a hormonal cause. I do see a skin lession on the first photo, so you may want to review your regime of flea control. If you observe your dog and/or the puppies itching, check for fleas. You may also take her and the litter to a veterinarian for an exam if this continues or expands.

Poor girl. It looks like she has a severe allergic skin reaction and secondary bacterial infection of her skin. I wouldn't suspect her c-section and incision site are the cause of this. However, to get rid of this infection and help control her allergic reaction, she will need to see your vet for prescription medications. Until you can get her seen, it is best to clean these areas with Betadine diluted 50:50 with warm water or better yet Chlorhexidine solution 2 or 3% diluted until a really light blue mixture and then rinsed with sterlie saline. Allow either the Betadine or Chlorhex solution to stay on the skin for 3-5 mins before rinsing with the saline. Once at the vet you can then get her on much needed antibiotics to fully resolve this infection. I do hope that Lola's skin infection and allergies resolve soon! It sounds like Lola could be pregnant! I would take her into the vet in the next day or two for an exam. The vet can do blood tests, an ultrasound, and possibly x-rays to confirm that she is pregnant and can give you an approximate due date. If she is far along enough, the vet can do x-rays and tell you about how many puppies she is carrying. Having her seen by the vet is best, as it will confirm a pregnancy or not.

A pot-bellied appearance with the rest of the body being thin can often be seen with a heavy parasite load (such as worms). It sounds like this puppy is not in good condition, and while he may be healthy once treated, you should be aware that it could require some money on your part to get him diagnosed and treated.

A dog's milk can come in up to a week before giving birth, so it's not used as a sign of going in to labor. Dogs can also lose the hair on the belly in the weeks before delivery, so it is also not a sign she is going into labor. The best way to get an idea of when she will give birth is to take her temperature rectally twice a day. A dog's normal temperature is between 101-102.5F. Once it drops below 100F, she will give birth to puppies in 24 hours.
