Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 10 months old | 21.8 lbs
Having already had an anti-sickness injection 24hrs ago after a spell of vomiting, our dog is now very lethargic and has had diarrhoea twice today. He has not been very interested in food and is now shivering on and off as he lays. He does seem himself most of the time but does also seem quite sad. Could this just be the end of a potential bug he has had, or is it worth taking back to vet for further treatment?

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to hear about Kobe. Sounds like he needs to be evaluated again. Many things could be going on including intestinal worms, infection, a foreign body, pancreatitis, etc. Your vet can evaluate Kobe and then recommend some tests such as a fecal exam, blood work, and possibly x-rays to determine what is wrong. Good luck and I wish you the best with Kobe

I am very sorry to hear that Kobe is still not feeling 100%. I woudm hope this is the tail end of the infection. I would try tempting him with a bland and easily digestible diet of boiled boneless chicken breast and bland rice. If after a few more hours he still refuses to eat, continues to have vomiting or diarrhoea, you notice any fresh blood, he seems depressed or in pain I would take him back to see the veterinarian.

Diarrhea and throwing up can be caused by a food sensitivity, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, an intestinal blockage, bacterial infection, viral infection, the weather, food change, stress, etc. As Boris is not feeling well and is lethargic, he needs to see a veterinarian for an exam as there may be something more serious such as an infection going on.
