Can I safely feed 3-week-old puppies something cheaper than formula?

Need advice on puppy feeding. Our momma dog passed shortly after giving birth and we've been bottle feeding them puppy formula but since I've had to take off work to care for them money had become tight. They are 3 weeks old today and I was wondering if there was an alternative more cost effective way of feeding them or if puppy formula is still the best option for them? Just looking for a cheaper alternative for feeding them but one that will not harm them either. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 21 days old | 5 lbs
