My rabbit was attacked by my dog, hopping weirdly. What can I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | 6 months and 23 days old | 15 lbs

My dog got a hold of my rabbit yesterday and there was no blood or anything but it look like her hip might be dislocated and she's hopping kinda weirdly. My dad doesn't want to take her to a vet yet but I'm really worried is there anything I can do?

The best thing to do without seeing a vet is to just rest her. I wouldn't let her have free reign of the house or yard. I would keep her in her enclosure. If she isn't improving then a vet visit will likely be required. Also make sure she is eating and drinking normally. I hope this helps.

I'm sorry to hear they got into an altercation. There is he possibility that she has a dislocated hip or a broken leg, or even possibly a back injury. I would recommend she be seen by her regular veterinarian to determine the underlying cause for her leg issue, have any diagnostics done that are needed (X-rays) and start on a treat plan if warranted. Good luck!
