How often should I feed my Beagles who are active outdoors all day?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Beagle | Female | spayed | 1 year and 7 months old | 25 lbs

I have 2 beagles named Daisy & Snickers. How often should I feed them. I feed them every morning between 5am-7am then they're outside until 7pm-8pm. They also have access to water all day.

Once daily or twice daily feeding is fine, whichever makes them happy and works into your schedule. There are a few medical disorders that may require changes to the feeding schedule but if they are healthy it is unnecessary to change it up now! The only thing I would avoid is free-feeding, where they have constant access to a food bowl, as dogs (Beagles in particular!) can often over-eat and become obese quite easily.
