Why does my healthy rescue cat still have diarrhea after 10 weeks?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 13 lbs

Our rescue cat has had diarrhea for 10 weeks, since the day we picked her up from the group. .She is currently taking Tylosin 120mg/ml and has had no improvement. She's been taking this for 25 days, and before that Nutri Vet anti diarrhea for cats, also with no improvement. She is eating normally, plays and in general, seems healthy and fine. She is fed premium cat food (Blue) mostly for indoor adult cats. We also tried plain yogurt and pumpkin but she wouldn't eat it.

I'm sorry your rescue kitty is having such issues. I would assume you have already taken her to the vet to be checked out and have a fecal exam performed. If you have not done this yet, then I would start there. If your vet has already done most routine procedures (fecal, X-rays, etc) then you may consider seeing an internal medicine specialist where they can perform an ultrasound of the abdomen or an endoscopy. Your cat may be suffering from irritable bowel disease or some other chronic condition. Best of luck.
