Why are my male cats always hungry and gaining weight on diet food?

My male cats are always hungry. I'm taking one that is very obese to the vet on Sat. He eats science diet weight control and he's still huge. The other male is not as fat but he's always hungry and gaining weight. He's fed Science diet uninary. Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 23 lbs

I adopted a cat that weighed 28 pounds. I measured his diet food and added in several tablespoons of plain canned pumpkin to his food twice daily. It took almost two years but he is now 12 pounds. He still gets canned pumpkin daily to maintain his weight. Most cats enjoy pumpkin. The cats may lose weight better on an all meat canned diet or Hills metabolic diet.
