My dog's skin is burned by undiluted lime sulfur dip. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 80 lbs

Hi I am Zakaria Jones and i am 16 years old and me and my family have two dogs a American Pit and a little Red Nost Pit he's older but just small that's all. My mom bought stuff like Cap Star and Frontline and they were working just a bit. We bought some Lime Sulfer Dip and i was excited to use it and i've used it before and since i was so excited to help them i forgot to put the water in it so it's like stuck on their sking and it's peeling i can see their meat they are swollen around the back.

Please rinse it off with lots of cool water and have your Mom take them to the veterinarian right away. Undiluted this can cause a toxicity and skin damage. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help answer your questions.
