My friend fostered a parvo dog. Is my vaccinated dog at risk?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 9 months and 14 days old | 26 lbs

In May we adopted our dog from the shelter when she was 7 months. She is up to date on her shots. We are going away and our friend was going to watch our dog but she fostered a dog who had parvo from March28-May10. Would our dog be at risk?

While there is no vaccine that guarantee coverage 100%, if yours is fully vaccinated than there is minimal risk. She needed at least 2 vaccines to cover that the last vaccine should have been after 4 months of age to protect her. Parvo does live in the environment so maybe they can take your out in a different part of the yard to even further minimize the risk.
